Laura Mainella

For over 20 years, Laura Mainella has been the dynamic, controversial and opinionated voice of morning radio. The perky host has been voted as having one of the best laughs in the business.

The career of the Toronto-born radio host spanned over several cities. From 94.9 The Rock in Oshawa to 97.7 HTZ FM in St. Catharines, 107.9 Energy Radio in Toronto to KISS FM, Laura was recruited by HOT 89.9 in Ottawa. There, she co-hosted The Morning HOT Tub, and consistently maintained the top morning show spot in Ottawa radio for over five years.  From serious news reporting to News Director and host, Laura and her morning team turned their three and a half hour morning show into a forum for news, political issues, charitable causes and sharp-tongued parodies, with an emphasis on edgy humor and off-the-cuff comments.

Laura continues to guest co-host on major market morning shows such as The John Oakley Show on AM 640 in Toronto, the Jim Richard's Showgram on CFRB 1010 and is currently Co-hosting on 91.7 The Giant in Niagara.

She runs her own consulting company and continues to voice commercials and voice-overs.

Laura's second career is as a Mental Health Worker and she is employed by the Chamomile Country Project.  She has also worked as the Housing/Outreach, Mental Health and Addictions Program Manager for Lanark County and as a Special Needs, Behavioral, High Risk, Transitional Support and Youth Worker for Terrace Youth Wellness Center from 2011-2014.

Laura owns a home in North St. Catharines and is a mom to a Maltese puppy named Bianco, Higgins and Harriet - both West Highland Terriers and a foster mom to a Quebec puppy mill westie rescue named Mina.

Laura enjoys riding her motorcycle, hanging out with her pups, blogging and playing tennis.

Laura has her diploma in Animal Psychology and Nutrition and owns her own dog supplement business called Higgs and Bee Greens. Her products are sold throughout pet stores in Ottawa and surrounding areas.

Laura has been a Fundraising Consultant at Ottawa Victims Services, Walk in Counselling Group, and also runs various youth groups and peer programs for women and girls that have been victims of domestic violence.

Laura has worked as the Campaign Facilitator for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada's Ottawa Chapter, for its first ever Light the Night Walk in Ottawa - October 16, 2010.

Some of her other awareness campaigns include:

"Cruise Don't Bruise" Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre

"Punchlines for Poverty" Canada Without Poverty

"Italian Chicks NYC" Ottawa Victim Services

"Light the Night 2010" Leukemia Lymphoma Ottawa Branch

"Dawg Day" Cystic Fibrosis

What an interesting night...   I went to the gym in Kanata and then met up with a friend at Booster Juice. On my way home I went to the gas station to fill up and that's when I met the not so glamorous version of Dirk Diggler.   Before I even had a...

So Kyle says he's been busy.  Amanda hasn't heard from him in a week. They've been out three times. The final date ended with her inviting him in, the two of them jokingly avoiding sex, and then ultimately giving in and doing the shimmy shimmy.  Kyle is apparently so insanely busy...

I've been writing this blog for some time now and every once in a while, I have someone say things like 'You are very brave' or 'How come you say all the things you say?' or 'You really don't care what people think, do you?' Truthfully I don't care...
